Chinese Egret

Not that rare seen here at Kota Kinabalu, it is just not often spotted. I normally found this bird at Lokawi beach and usually no more than two but often one. You do not approach it, this bird stays. If you go near it and once it sees you, this bird run away and will fly away when you come closer. Early appearance of this bird this year 2010. Happy birding.

The front bird is Great Egret and abundant all year round.

Kentish Plover

I have been watching for Whited-faced Plover. I do not see any on the shore. But I get the feeling the first two pictures of my bird seem to be the breeding plumage of White-faced plover. Hope some body could confirm that for me. Kentish are many on the beach now and they are all fresh. I just love to see them coming again. Happy birding.

Crested Goshawk

It is a dry season since the begining this year 2010. Vegetation follow suit due to some are on fire from the heat. So due to this less trees bear fruits and some too drying now and die. Birds are scarcely and birders get their impack to see less or no birds. Happy birding.

Banded Kingfisher

Thought of to rest from birding today but I just could not when Mr. Ben Duncun call me and asking me if I go birding somewhere because he want to follow. Then since most of the time I go birding alone and decide to go together. The birding place we go is very silent and could see one or two birds. In the morning we get Orange-bellied Flowerpecker and Brown Fulvettas flocking in number of around 10. While in the afternoon we get a little exercise from the kingfisher. We sight also Drongo Cuckoo and probably other cuckoo and two species of Malkoha. This is a female bird which I always want at least to see if I have no chance to photograph it. Happy birding.

In between of the day we fill our time with this cicada while waiting birds to come.

CNY 2010 2nd. Day Birding.

It is the day 2 of holiday I go birding at the same place. The day is not as good as day 1 due to sun heat that may be causes the birds move away to colder places. I do birding under trees shade and I can not stand standing under the sun because the heat fall on my face just like burning me. Though the situation as such I am happily birding as day 1 because I find new birds that I can add to my bird list. Happy birding.
