Shooting at RDC

I went to Rainforest Discovery Centre, Sandakan last week attentionally for Ruddy Kingfisher which was seen two days ago before I reached the location. Birding there for two days but no sign of Ruddy Kingfisher seen. Hopefully next time. While came and went from the location, I shot other birds. There were many birds seen but I could digiscoped a few only. I missed Bornean Bristlhead too.

Oriental Cuckoo

It was so wonderful taking pictures with these birds. They were not so active though busy looking for food. Thanks to Wan Iskandar Buniyamin for taking me to the place where he found these birds. These birds are my lifers.

Female bird.
Male bird.
This one was staying on the ground to catch worms.
and so this male bird.

Happy birding.

Rails

Excitedly seeing many rails in the paddyfield. They are about ten of them. I hardly see this many before and most of the time I see one rail only and not approachable. When this bird see you, it quickly runs away to the bushes.

Black-and-red Broadbill

This is a lowland forest bird but it can be seen near the roadside fresh water pond during nesting (so far that I have seen). It can go up quite higher altitude too.

This is how this bird nest look like. The nest usually is on the the dead tree on the fresh water pond.

Many of these birds in the field. I do not see them present in the field until suddenly flocks of them fly off to the air when Black-shouldered kite come near them.

They fly more higher than the Black-shoulder kite does to avoid being get capture.
Happy birding.

Somekind Grasshopper?

It was been hard day yesterday birding because there were no birds to photograph. But I enjoyed the cool mountain breeze though beside that I did birdwatching only. At the end of the day before leaving home, I found this little snow-white grasshopper-like.

Happy birding.
