White-collared Kingfisher

Very common birds. Easilly to find everywhere such as at mangroves, seashore and ponds. Loud sound of kek-kek kek-kek when call.

GREAT EGRET
Ha ha another common bird with no difficulty to find. Consider an immune habitat to humans.
You can feed them. You throw pieces of waste of chicken meats on to the sea, they are all flock coming for the meats. Often too they fight for the meats. Happy birding.

Pacific Swallow

I was on my way down from hill on the gravel road and these birds were alway landed on stones to rest after flying up and down the road for flying insects. When I saw a Raffle's Malkoha, I stopped at road side but it flew away before I could take picture of it. Since at late afternoon only these swallows left seen, I took them few snaps and call it a day. Happy birding.

House Crow

I am looking for Aleutian Tern at Kota Kinabalu Waterfront but see nothing around. Seeing these crows near by me, I point my camera to these birds. Happy birding.
I bought this book yesterday. The 2nd. Edition of A FIELD GUIDE TO THE BIRDS OF SOUTH-EAST ASIA by CRAIG ROBSON. Better photos printing than previous 1st. edition book. Birds are described briefly with photos shown on open pages while the details at the back pages of the book. Good guide book of birds but a bit expensive.

Crested Goshawk

Thank to Mr. Denis Degullaci for this bird. It is my lifer. We went to Sugud, our nearest place for birding. I was not really prepared to go birding as I was not ready with my gears which I used them to test my photo attachment previous day. I met him on our way up and I overtook him for attention to arrive earlier the bird place and got all my gears set up. Then as I was about few meters away ahead him, he phoned up and informed me about this bird. I then quickly turned back. Happy birding.

Digiscoping with DSLR

Today I do tests to my Photo Attachment after I do not use for along time. I only use once since I bought. These are the results from the test. With the attachment it gives you between 1088 to 1600 mm of focal length (calculated with camera 1.6 crop factor). With long focal length like this, your photography set up must be steady and you may need Remote Switch for your camera to snap your subject ( RS-80N3 for my 20D) to avoid shake to your system.  Happy birding.

Blue-eared Barbet

Birding was very slow and hardly to see birds around. Only this barbet was most making much sound. I just couldn't bother and simply ignored it because I already has its picture and to locate this bird is not that easy too which is hidden mostly among the thick leaves. I walked up and down the road and suddenly spotted a bird flying to dead tree and saw going in the hole. Yeaa it was this barbet. I stopped nearby this dead tree and got ready my system for it and waited. I saw chick and once a while pop out its head and the mother came to feed its chick of about 1 or 2 hours duration.  I got only this barbet birding it for whole day. Feel excited as I never seen barbet in nest before. Happy birding.

Asian Brown Flycatcher.

Small little bird and it is good to see its behaviour go and come to the same perching place after flycatching. Happy birding.

Black and Yellow Broadbill

Easy birds to find and good birds for shooting practise. You find no birds while birding, call it you shall have them.

Red-bearded Bee-eater.

Only saw two of these birds. They came while I was photographing the Banded Kingfisher. I couldn't really concentrate to kingfisher as these birds were making to much noise and the mind attracted to them. I only came to them after the kingfisher flew away. Happy birding.

Black-bellied Malkoha

Last Thursday the 8th.Oct.2009 I was birding alone and saw a Male Banded Kingfisher perching on electric wire. I was happy to see this bird as it is so hard to find. I took many shoots of it too and after that I tried to find the female but just could not fine and just in vain. Then after that saw this Malkoha flew in which just above me. Happy birding.
