Surviving the cute Spotted Dove chick! 27. 03. 2011

I find this chick by the side of the road near my house. It is luckily no cats around otherwise that the end of it. I try to find its nest but can not find. So no where to release it and I am trying to save it. Hoping I manage to save it till it fledge.

Yes it is cute.
I modify the stud for food and water container for the chick.
I buy the chick food from pet shop.
I try to feed the chick but fail as its mouth I can not open. I feel happy because the bird at least can sip the water when I dip its beak into the water.
There it is inside the plastic container safely.
It is covered so that it will not get rain.
Happy birding.

Chinese Religion parade - 26/03/2011

For the first time I see the Chinese community here in Kota Kinabalu city having or do religion parade in the town. When I see this occasion.....I say "Oohh this is may be something like how Chinese do every year or particular day/days in China commemorating/celebrating/praying."
Like very much to see them with beautiful and colorful dresses. May be next to see is Hinduism?

Watercock

This bird is quite large as big as the black-backed swamphen. I am not sure about this bird but the feeling that this is a male non-breeding bird. Hope one day shall have a chance to see the male-breeding with long red frontal shield.

Happy birding.

Black-collared Starling

The padifields have been ploughed and I visit the fields for three days now - morning and afternoon. There is no new species that I can add to my bird list. Common birds on the paddifields are Juvenile Java and Chinese and Purple Herons and Wood Sandpiper and Egrets.
Uncommon are these Black-cllared starling and Oriental Pratincole.
