Brown Boobook

I have seen one or two owls and this first wild owl that I am able to photograph. This is I quess a young bird of Brown Boobook!

Happy birding.

  1. Hi Karim

Why a young bird? Also, where was it photographed? If in coastal scrub there's a chance this could be Northern Boobook, the migrant race/species

  4. Hi Dave

I was reading Australian Brown Boobook mentioning a young bird is darker. It was taken along the coastal line.

  5. Hi Karim

This bird looks much less heavily streaked than birds I photographed at Lambir and Sepilok recently. I would guess that it's probably the migrant Northern rather than resident Brown. Do you mind if I post one of your pics on my blog to compare with Brown?

    Thanks

    Dave
