Swinhoe's snipe

So far birding around Sabah and just able to find 2 kinds of snipe species namely Pintail and swinhoe's snipes which they are almost similar in shape. Hope will find other snipe of this species. Happy birding.

Birding at Kinabalu National Park

Birding at Kinabalu Park on the Nov.24, 2009. Not many birds seen but not felt so silent in the trail as the Bornean Treepie and Short-tailed Magpie making much and loud noise most of the times. Happy birding.

Birding around KBU.

Accompanying Mr. Wong Tsu Shi from Tawau birding around Kota Kinabalu (Penampang, Sugud, Lokawi beach and Likas Lagoon) for two days (Nov.20-21, 2009) . Glad, though we fail to see the birds that he want to find such as Chinese egret, that he has a few bird that he can add to his bird list. Happy birding.

This morning I go to Penampang (after Mr. Wong already gone back to Tawau) as usual to check if any new birds that could be spotted. I spot this bird. I hope that it is not the bird that Mr. Wong wish to find because he also said that he is looking for snipe as well.

Peregrine Falcon

Birding at Penampang, Kota Kinabalu Sabah on the November 19, 2009. The fastest flying bird in the world clocking at 90 mph (145 kph). There are even accounts of this raptor diving at speeds up to 200 mph (320 kph)..




Peregrine falcon was attacking Brahminy kite. The kite was very slow to avoid the falcon claws. The kite was not given a chance in the area of its teritory even kite was on the perch, the falcon made attacks and which finally the kite flew away from the area. Happy birding.

Birding at Kinabalu National Park _ Nov.16, 2009.

Birding at Kinabalu National park today.Weather at the park is not fine. I am birding under rain. No new bird that I can add to my bird list. I go to the park today to find Collared owlet, Whitehead's trogon and whitehead's broadbill and fail to see the birds. Hopefully next time. Happy birding.

Buff-banded Rail II

While waiting for Slaty-breasted rail, this bird appears suddenly that I do not know from where. I just surprise for its appearance and Aaahhh Slaty!! that my mind speak but it turn this bird. I despair with no sign of Slaty-breasted Rail at all. Hope "Slaty" will show up next time. Taken on November 13, 2009 at Penampang, Kota Kinabalu Sabah. Happy birding.
