Blue-eared Barbet, Megalaima australis.

It is lucky today of able to snap better pictures of these birds which are normally always at the top of high forest trees making territorial calls. But today they make hole for their nest. They make their nest is the same way the woodpeckers do.

Javan Pond Heron (Ardeola speciosa)

I see many herons today. But no waders at all that I wanted to see. A pair of snipe seen and only female appears preening from underneath dry stalks of paddy while pratincole scattered. Happy birding.

Blue-eared Barbet [Megalaima australis]

Most difficult to spot especially when it is at the top of high tree where it is normally making the territorial call up there and the call is loud. It is small bird and its size as big as a Eurasian tree sparrow.
Crimson-breasted Flowerpecker (Prionochilus percussus)
It is a female bird.
Yellow-bellied Bulbul (Alophoixus phaeocephalus)
It is the second time I found this bird. First time was at Danum Valley.

Scarlet Minivet (Pericrocotus flammeus)
It is a male bird.

MATING

I have been watching the beach for new arrival of shore/sea birds to come. There are non new sighted. These Little Tern (Sternula albifrons) and Malaysia Plover are often seen. The noise habit of these terns always create with quite loud before they start or begin mating. Probably the "noise" is courting signal by male to female bird.

Malaysian Plover (Charadrius peronii)

Happy birding.

Black-headed Bulbul on Nest.

It is slight different placing the nest from other birds. It is on a live big green leaf. There is chick in the nest already. The bird spreads its wings to shelter the chick from rain.

Black and White Bulbul (Pycnonotus melanoleucus)
Only one shoot to this bird. It flies away as I come nearer. My lifer!
Buff-rumped Woodpecker (Meiglyptes tristis)

Scorpion

Before reaching my nearest favourite birding place, I saw this fearsome creature crossing the road. Do not know if this is a venomous stinger but there are 25 of these species can kill people with their venom.
Red-crowned Barbet (Megalaima rafflesii)
Diard's Trogon (Harpactes diardii)
Happy birding.

Abnormality

This Common Moorhen is a common bird and easily found in the paddyfield. Its beak at lower mandible splits open widely and looks just it has dracula fang.... I want BLOOD. While upper mandible curving up at tip.
Probably this Pacific Swallow has just finished bathing where it is drying its "arm pit". It is bending its body to one side for some times with gasping action. Otherwise is an abnormal behaviour.
Happy birding.

Red-bearded Bee-eater.

The day at birding place was not good. The weather changing from fine day to rain and fine again, then overcast, drizzling and rain again. Birds hardly to see when underneath thick leaves and these bee-eaters were only quite easily to see due to their sizes. The flower-peckers and flycatchers were very hard to identify.

Brown Barbet (Caloramphus fuliginosus)

Happy birding.

Malaysian Hawk Cuckoo (Cuculus fugax)

It was raining at the birding place and was able taking these birds when it stopped for awhile.
After about one and half hours birding, rain poured heavily. I went back home.
Happy birding.

Diard's Trogon (Harpactes diardii)

White-crowned Shama

One of most noisest birds in the forest. These birds are hard seen in the open. You want to see these birds clearly, you have to hide yourself from them.

Scarlet-rumped Trogon (Harpactes duvaucelii)
Female bird.
Male bird.
Red-billed Malkoha (Phaenicophaeus javanicus)
Chestnut-breasted Malkoha (Phaenicophaeus curvirostris)
